Great School! Beyond and above curriculum!!! Teachers go out of their way to make sure every kid stays on track. Their approach to academics is unique and is not suitable for every child, it is very fast pased, hands on education where kids do ALOT of problem solving, analysis, logical development and inquiries. This is a not one of the standard PS curriculum and methodology. Teachers do not give lectures, they engage the kids in active discussions and collaborative work. Home assignments are a bit challenging, however, kids are able to complete them on their own without parents involvement. Majority of projects are done in school where kids work in groups or individually to present THEIR final work (not their parents work like most of public schools where homework is a complete waist of time and where parents are the ones doing it). On top of great academic program the school offeres a comprehensive enrichment classes that are grade appropriate and each studen gets a chance to experience it via rotational system. When my kids tell me they love math and science and history and pretty much all of their subject, it speaks volume about the school!!! There should be more schools like BSI!!!

This school is not what I expected it to be when I first joined. The teachers are not the best at teaching and throughout my 5-6 years of being here, I've only had around 2-3 actually good teachers who knew how to teach. The janitor mostly does his job except for the occasional poop on the wall and floors. Anyways, this school does not prepare us for high school. I'm currently in 7th grade and we get about an hour or less of homework each WEEK. I get that the school doesn't want us to be stressed and have fun learning but a lot of us are going to be struggling so hard in high school where we get 2-3 hours of homework every day. Plus, this school doesn't have may sports or after school activities (track for example). I give credit to the school counseler and staff. If i'm having any trouble with teachers or questions I know the office will provide me with answers and solutions ASAP.

Most of the Middle school teachers are good teachers. I don't favor the curriculum and the fact that we don't get as much home work as other students in other schools. The school favors students as one student bullied a girl for 6 months and got a slap on the risk, and one kid called another autistic online and got suspended. Since the school is small they don't offer as many activities as the students want, such as sport teams. There are no lockers so we have to carry all our stuff in one backpack through out the day, and we also don't get any textbooks which most of us need. Through out the 8 years i've been here, I would say the school does need to change somethings as I believe it would benefit students in the future. We also get useless classes, but the environment is nice. Kids don't do any drugs, and the school is really clean. Most of the students are liberal if you like that. The school also really likes to get into your socials (as in snapchat, messages you send). Once a girl sent some joke to another girl and the school found out and the school found it inappropriate and had the girl who sent the message have it go on her record that she made and inappropriate comment. Thats all I have to say, if you wanna bring your child to this school go ahead (you will probably need a tutor though).

This year and last, there was a rich variety of offerings including media literacy, mixed sports, band on top of a thoughtful curriculum in humanities, math and science. The building is beautiful and it's great having Seth Low park across the street. It remains uncertain which of these electives will survive year to year because they depend, in part, on PTO funding.

I had just asked a teacher a question, and she barley helped me. She said "do what you can do". I also understand that we barley get any homework whatsoever, but it honestly depends how challenging it is. It is kinda challenging. The teachers really don't help you and expect you to know it all
